The World is Bleeding
Cast your mind back,
To a time long forgotten -
Before Humanity
became foul and rotten
Where ecosystems thrived,
and the air was clean -
The travesties now known
were visions unseen
In modern times,
such as these
Humanity would be better labelled
as selfish thieves.
We take what we will,
with no thought at all -
No respect held inside,
for nature's true law.
We rape the oceans,
pollute waterways -
Waste and rubbish infect the grounds
where marine life frolic and play.
In forests once thriving,
Man has left their mark.
What is not trapped and logged,
Murdered by one careless spark.
The population expands
"We must make way!"
Defiling the grounds
where ancient warriors lay
Animals once bounded
numerous and free -
Now one can hunt them
for a suitable fee
Tusks and pelts,
heads mounted on boards
Animals so regal
Fetch the highest rewards
Wars were once fought
man to man -
A warrior on his mount
and a sword in his hand
Two armies would meet
on a vast battlefield,
The victor the one
who would not yield
Swords and horses now replaced,
with guns and tanks -
Missiles and bombs the weapons
our armies take
Weapons of Mass Destruction
create havoc worldwide -
With suicide bombing attacks
right by their side.
Communities ruined -
Innocent lives lost,
so much destruction -
so great is the cost.
If you close you eyes
And still your mind
You hear the Earth weeping
For all of Her kind
She watches it all,
cries tears of blood -
Her warnings overlooked
as earthquakes and floods
Will we heeds her warnings
all too late?
are we resigned to
this destructive fate?
We face each day
with blood on our hands
The World is Bleeding -
She mourns for her lands.
